What is your job title at CUSI?
Summarize your responsibilities at CUSI.
I am a member of the UMS Development Team. I implement enhancements for the overall UMS customer base and perform development work specifically requested by new or existing UMS customers. I help the Implementation Team transition new UMS customers by performing Data Conversions and help the Technical Support Team by resolving issues that need special attention.
What is your educational background?
I received my B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.
What is your favorite part about your job at CUSI?
Working for CUSI allows me to earn a living by doing what I enjoy most: solving puzzles. I absolutely adore complex problem solving, making software development the perfect job for me. Each time I complete an assignment I get to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment. There is no other profession for me.
How do you create value for our customers at CUSI?
I bring to the table a unique set of skills and insights. For fifteen years I worked in Customer Service in the Insurance Industry, providing support for Independent Agents. It was this experience that helped me decide to transition to a more technical work because I needed a bigger challenge. I joined The Hartford, as a liaison between Customer Service and Development, writing programming specifications and performing testing. I then transitioned to a Software Developer, and worked in this capacity for six years. I understand how an organization can be best served by teamwork and positive approaches to problem solving. All of these experiences relate to my coding and design, and I always keep the end user in mind, because I have walked in their shoes.
What are your favorite hobbies you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, outdoor activities and seeing new sights. My family and I recently took a trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, AR. We had a great time mining for diamonds! I have also visited Elephant Rocks State Park in Missouri, where the rock formations are some of the oldest in the world.
